pObviously, it's way too soon to call the Bruins' 4-1 victory at Washington on Sunday crucial. After all, despite a 4-5-1 run in their last 10 games, the defending Stanley Cup champions were just three points out of first place in the Eastern Conference./p pAll that said, it was pretty important for Boston to play well and get a win over a team that's just fighting for a playoff spot, a team it could meet in the first round of the playoffs./p p"We just weren't playing our best of late," left wing Brad Marchand said after the B's snapped a two-game losing streak in the first game of a two-game trip that goes to Buffalo on Wednesday night. Playing about 10 blocks from the White House -- a place he famously avoided because of his political views two weeks ago when the reigning Stanley Cup champions were honored by President Barack Obama -- Thomas shut out the Capitals until late in the third period as the Bruins snapped a two-game losing streak.
